Argentine star Lionel Messi will miss Inter Miami's match against Columbus, the MLS champions, on Tuesday in the Leagues Cup.
Messi has been left out of the squad by his compatriot, coach Gerardo "Tata" Martino, due to an ankle injury he sustained a month ago during Argentina's 1-0 victory over Colombia in the Copa América final. He has not participated in his team's training sessions since then.
The Leagues Cup features clubs from both MLS and Liga MX. Inter Miami, led by Messi, won the inaugural edition of the tournament last year.
