On Monday, Milan, a Serie A competitor, announced the signing of Brazilian defender Emerson Royal from Tottenham Hotspur on a contract until 2028.

This will be the first experience in Italy for Emerson, who is 25 years old and has played 10 international matches. Previously, he played for Barcelona and Real Betis in Spain.

Milan announced on its website: "We are pleased to announce the signing of Emerson Royal from Tottenham Hotspur. The Brazilian defender has signed a contract until 2028, with an option for an additional year."

Emerson Royal began his career with São Paulo in Brazil before moving to Atlético Mineiro. He joined Barcelona in 2019 but did not leave a significant mark, leading to a transfer to Betis. He returned to the Catalan club in 2021 before moving directly to Tottenham.

Milan, under new coach Paulo Fonseca, will begin their Serie A campaign by hosting Torino on August 17.
