However, France fought back, with Magnus Aklious scoring a goal to reduce the deficit in the 79th minute. Just before the end of the second half, Jean-Philippe Mateta equalized for France with a penalty kick.

The score remained tied at 3-3 after regular time, prompting the match to go into extra time. Spain took the lead again in the second extra time period, with Sergio Camello scoring the fourth goal for Spain. In the final minute of the second extra time period, Camello scored again, securing the fifth goal for Spain and the win.
